Freetown Studios Reading!

This is just a quick note to let you know that Kate Bernheimer and Dayana Stetco will
be reading on Saturday, March 10th at 6pm, at Freetown Studios, downtown
Lafayette. Freetown Studios is a new nonprofit organization located in a
4,000 sq. ft. warehouse and dedicated to promoting emerging contemporary
artists who work in printmaking, painting, installation, theatre, and
other multi-media disciplines. The space is industrial, unusual, but
surprisingly friendly.

There will be some wine, cheese and pastries. After the reading you can join the ArtWalk crowds - more wine, great company and lively conversation.

Doors open at 5:30. The address is 421 E. Convent St.

The Southwestern Review: The Phoenix Edition (Journal)

The Southwestern Review is UL-Lafayette’s in-house literary journal edited by graduate and undergraduate students in Creative Writing. It features poetry, short fiction, non-fiction, and drama by faculty, graduate students, and undergraduates, and is illustrated with student art work. As 2012 approaches, we mark yet another round of apocalyptic predictions. And considering the religious, technological, environmental, and political scares of the past as well as the ones surely headed our way in the future, we must admit that this fascination with "The End" is no passing fad. So we'd like to know more about it. In fact, we'd really like to see your take on "The End" of things, particularly what happens after "The End." In other words, we're looking for creative pieces that look at a moment of irrevocable change and its consequences. Officially known as the Phoenx Edition, the 2012 issue of The Southwestern Review will be based around the theme of postapocalyptic regrowth or regeneration.
